God's Masterpiece

I love teaching at a private Christian school because my faith can be an integral part of my classroom. One of my favorite decorations is a banner I created with my classroom’s theme verse. (Forgive the terrible photo.)

For you are God’s Masterpiece … Eph. 2:10 (NLT)

What a fitting verse this is for an art classroom! Through creating art, we are following the example of God. Our creativity comes from Him as we are created by God in his own image. He passed along this trait to us with intension and purpose. We can worship Him and bring Him glory and honor through our creative efforts.

The full verse in the NIV says: For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

According to this beautiful promise, not only are we God’s masterpiece, but he has plans for us. We have purpose. God created you, chose you, equipped you and gave you purpose. He has an amazing future already mapped out for you.

You are not a rough draft or a hasty sketch. He planned out and meticulously fashioned every part of you. You are his Masterpiece.

How cool is that?
